Authors - IntroductionWe have two types of authors, those who develop segments and those who write articles. You can of course do both but the idea is to spread the load and therefore make greater progress. Segments are collections of knowledge, not necessarily related, so is perhaps a little like a magazine covering information to be shared or learnt over a week or other period of choice by the reader. The segment author does not attempt to cover the full story, just a very brief overview of the main points, and then links to a detailed article, written by another author or by themselves. The articles and segment contents are also added to an index allowing information to be found later, without having to reread the whole school site. Article authors or feature writers are the people who write the specific articles that make up the Academy school site. They agree in advance the topic they are to write on, and then research and write up this topic. Each article is free standing, but builds with others to form a core of knowledge. More complex topics may be covered over a series of articles. What next. The rest of this section expands on this and looks at answering the questions that have come up from course authors. Many of those taking part in this course will also be studying under it, the advantages of this is that you get to both reinforce and share the knowledge you already have and also experience from others what they have discovered. Particularly over the first half of the course, much will be known by different people who are taking it, and it is only later where we enter areas that have not been shown before on the net, that we will have to dust off some of our older witches, to share there/our knowledge as well. Up to that point we all benefit from a mixture of the basics and experience. Remember if you don't get around to registering as a writer we will not move as fast as we could and you will lose the benefits of being involved. |
